Gifts For The Gal Pals (or yourself!)

Oh it’s that time of year when the malls become filled with Santa and his elves, screaming children, and people knocking into you with shopping bags.  I swear I love the Holidays.  Malls during the Holidays, not so much.  If you are like me and do not necessarily need to experience the wonder that is Tysons Mall during the shopping season (once, it took me 2 hours to get out of the parking lot), you can totally get everything you need from the comfort of your couch.

My Favorite Transition Coat + Life Updates

Aldo ‘Juliusa’ Slingback Mule

This week has been a doozy, for many, different reasons.  Let’s just talk about the positives.  I LOVED London and cannot wait to go back.  It was everything and more, but I will share details in a post coming up!  We are getting so close to the Holidays and I am so not ready.  I am usually so good with getting my Christmas shopping done early, but this year, I am not quite motivated yet.  I will be doing some posts on gifts for friends, loved ones, and of course, your self, so maybe that will get me in the spirt.

As for my outfit share this week, it’s still a warm-ish look because the temperature here is pretty moderate.  Plus, I am not a stockings type of girl, unless it’s Christmas Mass.  This Zara ‘pointed jacket’ was such a great find.  I ordered it on a whim from the Zara website, and loved it the minute I put it on.  I would not necessarily call it a “jacket,” as I feel it is more of a thick cotton material that can be worn as a sweater or transitional outerwear.  When I say ‘transitional outerwear,’ I mean an item you can wear commuting to work, while sitting at work, and then out for dinner.  Ok, I totally made that term up and gave it my own definition.  The jacket also has black piping, which gives it a great contrast against the beige.

For my dress, this ASTR Mock Neck Body-con dress is such a cute classic cut and perfect for dinner and a night out.  I like pairing a sleeveless dress or top with the Zara jacket, as the jacket sleeves fit just right on my arms, so it’s nice to not scrunch up an extra set of sleeves.

Lace-up trend

My Tip Tuesday post this week is more like Trend Tuesday.  I am showing the lace-up trend that is everywhere, repeat, everywhere this season.  Lace-ups are seen on dresses, sweaters, and tops, in all sorts of styles, ranging from work wear to casual attire to date-night looks.  The great thing about this trend is that you can make it work in a variety of ways, and at all different price points.

Taupe Suede Dress + Black Booties

ASTR Faux Suede Mock Neck Shift Dress – Taupe (also available in charcoal)

Vince Camuto booties (old) – similar here and here

These are the first set of photos from my shoot with Laura, and I love them all so much!  This ASTR dress is one of my favorite picks for the Fall.  ASTR is sold at Nordstrom and they have afforable pieces that are on-trend, while being classic enough that you can wear them over and over again. This dress is no exception.  It’s a shift dress, so the shape is very flattering and forgiving.  The faux suede material is super nice and smooth.  Plus this taupe color is everywhere this season.

Mosaic District – Shops and Eats

I am so lucky to have grown up in Northern Virginia.  My area, Falls Church, has gone through so many changes throughout the years and one of the best things is the Mosaic District.  Mosaic District is a one-stop center for shopping, eating, watching movies, and working out.  There are beautiful apartment buildings and townhouses, so those people are fortunate enough to walk the beautiful Mosaic District everyday.
