Christmas week is officially here and what better way to celebrate, then to make some yummy Christmas cookies! I had a fun-filled weekend, including my BFF’s Christmas Party (I brought these cookies!), and a family get together with Bryan’s Aunt and Uncle, where we made fudge. It was my first attempt at fudge and it wasn’t pretty, so I am sharing this cookie recipe instead. This very SIMPLE cookie recipe. Fudge…who knew it was so complicated…
I hate to admit it, but when time is not on my side, short cuts need to be made. This recipe uses sugar cookie dough and just a few simple ingredients. You really can’t screw these up. The sour cream adds a tart and savory taste, which reminds me of those giant iced sugar cookies you get at the grocery store that are pillowy soft! My only tip is to place the cookies in a pan or deep dish, drizzle the icing overtop with a spoon and then immediately pour the sprinkles all over the cookies. The icing sets very quickly, so you want to make sure those sprinkles stick! Enjoy!
Sprinkles
1. Heat over to 350 degrees F.
2. In a medium bowl, beat the refrigerated sugar cookie dough, cream cheese, and all-purpose flour until well blended. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls. Place the balls 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
3. Bake the cookies for about 11 minutes or until dry and just starting to crack on top. Remove the cookies and allow them to cool.
4. To make the icing, mix the powdered sugar, water, and vanilla until well combined. If needed, add more water, 1/4 teaspoon at a time to make the icing thing enough to drizzle over the cookies.
5. Once the cookies are cooled, drizzle the icing over the cookies and top with sprinkles.
Voila! So simple and so delicious!
