Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ Pumps
Happy Friday friends! Today’s post is something a little different, and I hope to make it a fun addition to the blog. By now you all know that I spend minimal amounts of $$ on my actual clothes, but that I will splurge on accessories. Designer and luxury goods are one of my favorite topics and I can talk about shoes and handbags all day long!
Handbags can be a great investment, as classic high-end designer bags will never go out of style. Think about the timeless Chanel caviar flap handbag. I get my expensive taste from my grandmother and mother, and fortunately, I am lucky enough to have a lot of bags that were passed down from my mom. Some of my purses are over 30 years old and they still look great!
Designer shoes on the other hand, are one of the ultimate luxury clothing items. In my humble opinion, they’re shoes, so they automatically go on the ground and get dirty and worn, and there really isn’t anything you can do about it! (I know you can resole them, but can just be too extra for me.) Plus, unlike handbags, you probably can’t hold onto shoes for 10 years, let alone 20 or 30 years.
So what am I trying to say you must thinking? That when you want to put a pair of designer shoes, you should REALLY put some thought into them. Especially when they can cost as much as a handbag.
3 key things to think about before purchasing designer shoes
- Practicality – How much will you actually wear them? Can you wear them on a daily basis? The more opportunities you have to wear them, the less $$ per wear they will cost.
- Style – Is it a classic style that won’t go out of trend and can last you many seasons and years? Or if it is a trend, is it something you can incorporate into your wardrobe for more than just a couple of months?
- Your feelings! – Because sometimes you just really want those darn shoes. If you want them THAT much, like the can’t sleep, thinking about them, looking at pictures of them 24/7, you should just get them.
Now onto my brief review of the infamous Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ and ‘Pigalle Follies’ heels.
‘So Kate‘ in Nude Patent Leather ‘Pigalle Follies‘ in Nude Patent Leather
I wish I would have taken a picture of my fee in the Pigalles, but I am sparing you. Have you heard of toe cleavage? It’s when the creases between your toes are completely shown, and personally, it does not look so hot, as least with my crooked ballerina feet. The Pigalles have a short point toe, hence the extreme toe cleavage, and a 4 inch heel. I returned them because I did not like the look and because they hurt so much on the sides of my feet. The Pigalles fit true to size, so 35.5 fit me fine.
I love the ‘So Kate’ pumps and they are much more comfortable than the Pigalles. Now don’t get me wrong, wearing Louboutins is in in no way like walking on clouds, but the ‘So Kate’ is much more bearable. The ‘So Kate’ have a classic pointed toe and a 4.75 inch heel. Interestingly, I went up half a size, so I got a 36.
My tip for preserving your soles and giving you more traction without having to completely ruin your shoes, is Shoe Bottoms sole protectors. You trace your shoe, cut it to fit, and then place it on like a sticker. Voila!
