I am finally sharing this cape with you all and it is probably one of my proudest purchases. Sometimes my champagne taste needs to be put on a beer budget, so when I fall in love with certain items, I need to step away and really (and I mean REALLY) think about it. Some of what goes through my head – Can I afford it? Will it truly be an investment piece? (i.e., will I keep it for many years) How much use will I get out of it?
When I saw the Burberry Mega Check cape, I instantly fell in love. At almost $1,500 it is oh so steep, but I got my trusty niece to tell me I needed to have it. I pondered over it for sooo long and I still desperately wanted it. But I thought to myself, how many times will I actually wear said cape??
I was THIS close to pulling the trigger and just getting the beautiful cape, when I literally stumbled upon the best fashion dupe I ever laid my eyes on. Goodnight Macaroon, a favorite of many bloggers, had the exact cape for under $100! I couldn’t believe it, but I thought hey, why not take a chance. The pictures look good and if it wasn’t even close to the Burberry one, I wasn’t going to fret over the money.
When the cape came in the mail, I was overjoyed. Literally, I squealed because it was so perfect and was an exact replica of the original Burberry version. I am happy to report that while I may only wear my treasured find a few times a year, it didn’t burn a whole in my wallet AND I still look at it and (mentally) pat myself on the back for a job well done!
While Goodnight Macaroon does not have my exact cape in the check/black color, this one is an exact dupe for the Burberry Mega Check Cape in Check/Gray, which is also beautiful!
